U.S. imports of packaged goods fell 7.5 percent year-on-year in October

, U.S. ports handled a total of 2.3 million standard containers (TEU), down 0.1 percent from September and below the 2.4 million to 2.6 million standard containers (TEU) range, the second time in the past 10 years that there has been a month-on-month decline.

, due to holiday goods on the shelves, inventory is still sufficient, the National Retail Federation and Hackett Associates expect the United States in November and December imports will slow down, may fall to 2 million TEU below.
